Dr. Jonathan M. Wilhelm, DC, CCEP, CKTP Working on Advanced Chiropractic Sports Medicine Certification
Dr. Jonathan M. Wilhelm, DC, CCEP, CKTP, recently attended the seminar certification series, Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP).
The seminar was taught by Olympic Team Chiropractor, Dr. Ira Shapiro, and focused on emergency procedures encountered by chiropractors on the field. Dr. Wilhelm learned how to rapidly assess athletic injury situations, how to deal with airway and breathing problems, bleeding controls and shock, soft tissue and extremity injuries. He also reviewed how to manage head and spinal injuries and how to respond to heat emergencies.
The CCSP certification requires physicians to complete a 120-hour postgraduate program. Following the completion of these hours, the doctor must take and successfully pass a comprehensive written and practical examination to receive the CCSP certification.
A sports chiropractor is uniquely trained to provide care and treatment of injuries or illness resulting from sports and physical fitness activities. Doctors of Chiropractic with the Diplomate American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (DACBSP) or the Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP), sport specialty certifications from the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians, have advanced training in the assessment, management, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries. Extremity care, rehabilitation, and soft tissue procedures are common skills utilized by these doctors. The specialty training covers a broad spectrum from the pediatric athlete to professional and Olympic athletes, and everything in between, using a variety of techniques and modalities.
As owner and president of Pro Chiropractic, Dr Wilhelm has more than 7 years experience as a Chiropractic Physician and specializes in treating sports injuries and auto crash injuries in the Bozeman, MT area.
